By the Old Oak Tree ~ Grassroots Coffee in Thomasville, GA

Standard

Bags of beans were piled high in the corner awaiting roasting.  The fresh scones in the pastry case were ready to please the pallet of the next taker.  The space was inviting and I was greeted with a friendly smile and could tell in an instant that these folks were passionate about their business.

They are two years in, and are already making an impact in their community by offering a roast that has been specially selected to meet the expectations of their demographic that is sweet, rich and not bitter.

If I understand correctly, they are participating in a gathering of Southern roasters in a couple of weeks to share and collaborate.  To find out more contact them at Grassroots Coffee.

Dig it!

KISS Coffeehouse … by the real Gene Simmons?

Standard

Yes! So “Shout it Outloud”!

Opened 5 years ago in Myrtle Beach, SC this rock n roll coffeehouse is truly one of a kind, at least for now.

Dot dot dot. Manager John said that Gene looooves to make money, so next time you’re in Beijing you just might see it!

Australian holidayers, Ben and Kylie, stopped in after their week long KISS cruise! (Yes, really!)

Rock on!

Hiram Haines’ Coffee House in Petersburg, VA

Standard

Jeff stands outside the doors of his recently acquired building in Old Town. He sought out this building as a coffee house for a particular reason … it was Eddy Poe’s haunt back in the day. And Jeff himself is an author.

They will be celebrating their first anniversary on October 29th with spooky poetry readings. All eccentric beings are welcome!

You can find them on FaceBook complete with photos, recent press, and Raven Burgers!

Peace, Lisa

The Ragged Edge #Coffeehouse in Gettysburg, PA

Standard

Gettysburg PA has more than Civil War history (although that is VERY cool). The town has rows and blocks colonial style housing. I expect to see Betsy Ross anytime.

Jacob, remember when you dressed up like Betsy Ross in middle school and made a colonial fashion magazine? Haha! It is just like that here.

Matt at the Army Surplus store (he does CW reinactments) sent me to his favorite local coffeehouse, The Ragged Edge (www.raggededgecoffeehs.com). Its a little old house right downtown.

PS – they are auctioning off their male baristas for the YMCA. Come on down and make a bid!

Peace, Lisa
